"The automotive semiconductor market in 2Q22 continued to grow faster than the overall semiconductor market despite the lower number of vehicles manufactured. Shortages of select semiconductors and other supply chain materials hampered manufacturing, but increasing semiconductor content per vehicle, automobile electrification, and ADAS drove growth in the automotive semiconductor market," says Nina Turner, research director for IDC's Edge AI Processor Architectures Program. "OEMs and tier 1 companies will continue semiconductor purchases until inventory stabilizes in 2023."
