Abstract

This IDC Perspective aims to compare and contrast the oil and gas (O&G) industry versus the utilities industry in relation to energy transition.

"Both the O&G and utilities industries are and will continue to be front and center in terms of leading the charge on the energy transition. Because these two industries and the energy sector, as a whole, are responsible for much of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions, it is expected that the O&G and utilities sectors will be under pressure to find effective and innovate ways to curb carbon dioxide emissions and pave the path toward a future of cleaner energy," says Andrew Meyers, research director of Oil and Gas, IDC Energy Insights.
