"The automotive semiconductor market in 2021 benefited from the recovery from the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns, increasing semiconductor content per vehicle, automobile electrification, increased automotive compute, and the price increases due to automotive semiconductor shortages," says Nina Turner, research director for IDC's Edge AI Processor Architectures Program. "Feature improvement in 2021 was somewhat constrained by the semiconductor shortages but will continue to grow as automobiles become more intelligent and the semiconductor supply chain shortages are eased."
