Abstract

This IDC Web Conference provides CIOs with a framework to assess the scope and maturity of the capabilities they need while helping them identify areas in which they need to advance to improve their opportunities for success in advancing their enterprises and leading IT. This new IDC framework goes beyond identifying gaps; it also provides a means to help CIOs prioritize opportunities to improve by defining a path to personal and professional advancement.

The challenges, volatility, and opportunity of the past few years have highlighted and solidified the imperative for digital-first organizations. Similarly, the expectations for their CIOs has been codified: beyond leading the IT team, these organizations expect their CIOs to be active members of the senior leadership team, able to shape, contextualize, and offer digital strategies and capabilities to deliver business and mission outcomes. These CIOs are being challenged to take on the role of a digital pathfinder: making sense out of seeming chaos and divining optimal digital business strategies. It's a career-defining time.
