This IDC study contains the revenue shares of vendors in the database management systems software market from 2019 to 2021 and includes analysis of key vendors and events, as well as of the market as a whole, with actionable advice for technology suppliers.

"In terms of database models, document databases continue to outpace the market overall, but relational databases, particularly on the analytical side, are showing signs of a strong resurgence, particularly as enthusiasm for unstructured data lakes seems to have waned," says Carl Olofson, research vice president for Data Management Software research at IDC. "Nonetheless, services that provide managed combinations of data warehouse and data lake functionality, called data lake houses, have demonstrated considerable success."
