Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective focuses on the major announcements from Dell Technologies World 2022, which was held as a hybrid event held live in Las Vegas and virtually during May 2–5, 2022. The event marked a continuation in the evolution of Dell Technologies as a multicloud solutions provider and its expanded commitment to "as a service" as a standard delivery option for customers. The live event — the first in three years — was well attended and enthusiasm was high as attendees embraced the opportunity to engage in person with others for the first time in more than two years. This was also Dell's first major event since formally spinning out VMware last fall. The company has fully embraced multicloud, which was the primary theme for the event.

"Dell Technologies World was well attended and the event was characterized by a high level of attendee enthusiasm," said Matt Eastwood, senior vice president, Worldwide Research, IDC. "The announcements reinforced Dell's pivot from a product-oriented technology company and toward an as-a-service organization centered on delivering solutions to customers that are increasingly embracing multicloud."
