Worldwide Server Forecast, 2022–2026: Pent-Up Demand to Accelerate Growth
Abstract
This IDC study provides historical data (2017–2021) and forecast data (2022–2026) for the worldwide server market. The forecast and historical data illustrate IT buyer consumption of server hardware segmented by product, CPU type, server class, socket capability, and primary operating system. For each of these categories, IDC has estimated value (end-user spending) and units.
"The server market has remained relatively strong, given the turbulent global environment marked by the pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, and supply chain shortages," said Kuba Stolarski, research director for IDC's Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies Group. "As the market continues to deal with these challenges, it will also evolve, as server hardware profit pools continue to shift from capex to opex, from traditional core to cloud-enabled edge, and from the enterprise to the service provider."
