Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation aligns data from IDC's 2022 Global Future of Work Survey with a change framework that explores progressive levels of hybrid work maturity. The realization that hybrid work will be a definitive part of our future and not simply a temporary state has had a significant impact on the ways in which we think about organizational and IT change management. Service organizations have had to grapple with not only their client's ability to adopt hybrid approaches to work but their own.

The model looks at differences in types of change — from programmatic to change activation to output-first change — contrasting different approaches to leadership, implementation, and measurement of hybrid work adoption. "Often, organizations are so focused on technology deployments that they neglect to recognize the organizational impact of implementing hybrid work models," said Amy Loomis, Ph.D., research vice president, Future of Work at IDC. "The key to successful deployments is to clearly assess and calibrate hybrid strategy based on an honest assessment of how ready the industry and organization are to experiment with new ways of working."
