Abstract

This IDC Survey details how environmental factors — such as waste, water, and GHGs — remain critical ESG issues, but investors, employees, and consumers are demanding more from organizations, with increased calls for social justice. In fact, IDC predicts that by 2024, 40% of use cases for sustainability/ESG software worldwide will have a strong focus on social sustainability topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and fair labor. To understand this shift, IDC surveyed over 1,000 organizations on their approach to social sustainability with the aim of gaining insight on related priorities, goals, commitments, processes, maturity levels, IT spend, and vendor perceptions.
