Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective contains excerpts from public financial disclosures by leading hardcopy vendors and details the impact of COVID-19 and supply chain issues on performance and forecasts.

"Despite the COVID-19 lockdowns in China that disrupted manufacturing and shipping, print vendors' second-quarter results held up relatively well. Vendors strategically increased prices to protect profits while navigating component shortages and shipping delays. Manufacturing output growth, rising inventories, and large order backlogs have set the stage for second-half growth. However, that anticipated growth could be dampened by risk factors that include geopolitical uncertainty, the increasing prospect of a global recession, and the possibility of future COVID-19 lockdowns." — Geoffrey Wilbur, research manager, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions at IDC
