TECH SUPPLIER Sep 2021 - IDC Survey Spotlight - Doc # US48216721
What Are the Main Uses for AI in Business?
Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight shows adoption rates for the most used artificial intelligence (AI) use cases in 2021. It compares adoption rates with IDC's Artificial Intelligence Spending Guide forecast, 2021, V2, and highlights where use case adoption aligns with the forecast. Use cases are categorized by type, highlighting that adoption of use cases for increased profit or new processes lags behind adoption for use cases that give efficiency improvements. The document includes data from IDC's 2021 Industry IT and Communications Survey, an annual United States–based survey of more than 3,600 respondents across organizations of all sizes in all industries, together with data from IDC's Worldwide Artificial Intelligence Spending Guide.
"Most of the implementations for artificial intelligence projects are for efficiency improvements rather than business growth," says Mike Glennon, senior research manager, IDC's Customer Insights and Analysis. Businesses need to use the capabilities of artificial intelligence for business growth, or they will be left behind by businesses that focus on using AI for business innovation."
