Abstract

This IDC Perspective is one in a series of IDC studies that examine agile value stream management and enterprise IT project and portfolio management (PPM) solutions and provide both vendor analysis and customer reference context for technology adoption and user buyer decision making. We discuss Broadcom's agile PPM and value stream management, IT PPM, and DevOps product portfolio. Broadcom's enterprise depth and focused product capability position the company for meeting pressing user needs across agile PPM and IT PPM. We discuss Broadcom relative to trends in user adoption demand for combined agile PPM and scaled enterprise execution. We do so in the context of an overall economy that is volatile in unprecedented ways with ongoing hybrid work, geopolitical upheaval, financial contraction, and unpredictability as we move into 2023. We also include a summary of a Broadcom customer reference, a global retailer with over 100,000 employees seeking to establish effective strategic portfolio management.

"IDC sees adoption of agile PPM and value stream management solutions for dynamic execution and innovative decision making via automation to enable speedy responsiveness to dynamically changing environments and initiatives," said Melinda Ballou, research director, IDC's Agile ALM, Quality, and Portfolio Strategies service. "Complementing these capabilities, increasingly, we observe demand for collaboration and adaptive PPM along with enterprise depth for project and portfolio management approaches for businesses and technology helping focus teams with targeted execution globally, cutting delays to benefit, and improving metrics. It is in part due to these trends that IDC has chosen to prioritize this area as one of the several areas of focus for a series of end user–oriented updated vendor analysis that include customer summaries."
