Abstract
This IDC Perspective explains the PRIME framework designed by IDC's Industry Insights team. It summarizes how applying this framework can guide manufacturing organizations' CEOs and C-suites in how to thrive in the future by focusing on five key elements: purpose, resilience, imagination, mastery, and ecosystems.
"Disruption is not new in the world of manufacturing. But these are extraordinary times — we have had the most impactful pandemic in 100 years, the global order is under threat from the Russia-Ukraine War, and now there is a global inflation. On top of these immediate challenges, climate change continues to become a larger threat and needs to be addressed appropriately. Manufacturers need to keep their hands in the now and their eyes in the future," said Gunjan Bassi, research manager of the IDC Manufacturing Insights team in Europe. "Applying the PRIME framework will empower manufacturers to holistically transform their organizations and gain a competitive edge by being able to navigate through the ongoing disruptive business environment while preparing to deliver success in the long term."
