This IDC Market Note explores SAP's introduction of its new SAP Process Automation offering and analyzes how this alters SAP's positioning in the European intelligent process automation (IPA) software market. The creation of an integrated, simplified offering that focuses on two of the most common technologies used for business automation — workflow and RPA — is a crucial development for SAP. Key IPA software competitors of SAP are positioned increasingly strongly in this respect, and SAP's broader strategy depends on it being able to compete effectively on the strength of its ability to help customers customize and integrate SAP applications as they migrate to S/4HANA.
