Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight looks at reasons why public cloud deployments are unsuccessful. As part of the IDC's European Multicloud Survey conducted in August 2021, we asked companies across Europe about their use or planned/considered use of cloud. Respondents were IT/IS managers or above, knowledgeable about cloud, and from across several industry sectors and company sizes.

When asked to pick their top 3 reasons for their organizations' failed public cloud deployments, concerns about performance and reliability were cited the most. This was followed by a lack of user acceptance of cloud services and tools as well as poor integration with existing on-prem applications.

With the future of the workplace and workload venues now being redrawn, cloud providers have an ideal opportunity to reeducate the market about cloud and how the technology will continue to play a vital part in the post-pandemic digital world.
