Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation of an IDC FutureScape provides IDC's top 10 predictions for Smart Cities and communities for the next five years (2023–2028). Organizations are streamlining their operations by improving data sharing, management, and analysis. In the future, data and its analysis will play an increasingly important role in the improvement of an organization's overall operational efficiency. Business outcomes can be improved if companies invest in collecting the right data and employing the appropriate analytics to discover actionable insights and enable necessary capabilities.

Population growth and shifting consumer demands all pose challenges to the reliability of existing infrastructure. Rapid urbanization has resulted in the development of innovative infrastructure methods and improvement of existing services to accommodate the needs of the growing population of citizens. Technology's integration into infrastructure has allowed for more effective operations, greater stability, and greater resistance to disruptions.

"As the efficiencies gained from digitizing processes can be translated into improvements in customer service, businesses are making efforts to improve the quality of services they provide to their customers. Besides, the IT sector is going through a period of transition in terms of the adoption of new technologies and new rules and practices, with the goal of reducing any adverse effects on society and the environment. By developing and deploying environmentally friendly technologies, we can leave the planet in better shape for future generations," says Jezamin Abdul Razak, head of government insights, IDC Southeast Asia.
