Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight analyzes the most demanding technology skills listed as important by India small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). To address the growing concern for skill shortage in the market, it will take a mix of better ways to attract or retain talent, deploy new best practices to train employees or teach new skills, and utilize technology to maximize the productivity or value of the talent already in place.

As technology usage continues to grow in India, organizations are seeking specific skills and expertise to fuel their digital transformation (DX) journey. However, the competition for talent is fierce, and the success of their transformation depends on concerted efforts from technology and IT SPs in ensuring that appropriately trained talent is available to support SMBs’ short- and long-term goals.

This IDC Survey Spotlight is based on IDC’s 2022 Asia/Pacific Future SMB Survey, which asked 500 SMBs worldwide, including 50 SMBs in India, all of which are currently focused on talent or skills gaps.
