Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation details how connected enterprises in India are evolving with the adoption of hybrid working models and how vital having a unified system in place is, which enables business agility and operational continuity, along with an underlying secure and safe architecture.

Data is the new currency. Managing risk in the information age is the new ask. Implementing cybersecurity requirements in a connected enterprise to secure web, email, network, endpoint, and user access applications and processes is the need of the hour. Today, enterprises are existing in a world accelerated by digital transformation (DX), IT modernization, hyperconnectivity, hybrid cloud environments, and edge computing. The future connectivity strategy of any enterprise now should be enriched, keeping in mind the adoption and potential use cases of software-defined WAN (SD-WAN), cloud-based services, unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) systems, 5G deployment and edge services, and managed network services and enterprise modernization.

This document highlights the five building blocks of a comprehensively connected enterprise, adoption of digitally transformed workplaces, top IT or network challenges that enterprises are facing, enterprise IT modernization and future connectivity strategy, services and technologies empowering a connected enterprise, achieving hyperconnectivity with SD-WAN and unified communications (UC), cloud-managed SD-WAN services, the way vendors are evolving in India to cater to this, evolution of UC and UCaaS solutions, adoption of 5G in India, edge protection with secure access and segmentation along with identity and access management, and managed network services for overall IT management.

"Technology suppliers should closely look at the evolution of SD-WAN and 5G in India. There is a strong requirement and scope in the areas of educating and training enterprises on how to adapt 5G technology in their current environment and make best use of the high spectrum for digital operations and innovations. UCaaS will undergo further innovation with 5G and edge networking," says Sakshi Grover, research manager, future of trust and future of work, IDC India. "There is also a shift observed among enterprises to move from partnering with a networking vendor to a communications SP. In such scenarios, we also observe networking vendors building a strong partnership with communication SPs in India to cater to a larger clientele. This is enabled by the need to obtain a comprehensive solution for all WAN and security services," she adds.
