Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Survey Spotlight highlights that 65% of IT and business decision-makers worldwide are concerned that the rapid investment in GenAI infrastructure may lead to excessive tech debt in the coming years as these technologies mature. Decision-maker concerns about ensuring continual data management compliance and data integration across multiple GenAI systems are high on the list of tech debt considerations.

"Coordinated business and IT leadership is needed to define and implement consistent data tagging, automation, and interoperability processes to minimize GenAI infrastructure tech debt in the coming years," explains Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, Future of Digital Infrastructure Agenda research at IDC.
