Abstract


This IDC study updates IDC's worldwide unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) taxonomy to provide market definitions and a framework that IDC uses to track, segment, and forecast the worldwide UC&C market. This taxonomy reflects the evolving worldwide UC&C market and includes discussions around terminology and technologies such as conferencing, team collaboration, team messaging and chat, hosted voice/UC public cloud, and managed voice/UC private cloud services (i.e., UCaaS).

"The worldwide UC&C market is evolving rapidly with some significant changes in the way the vendors approach the market," says Jitesh Gera, research manager, Worldwide Unified Communications and Collaboration at IDC. "We are increasingly seeing a marked convergence of UC&C with adjacent services such as contact center platforms and communication platforms as a service (CPaaS). Moreover, AI is blurring the boundaries between not only all communication platforms but also workspace productivity software. In the future, we see more of this convergence to drive holistic productivity improvement efforts."
