This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the urgent need for enterprises to adopt frequent scanning practices and integrate automation in cybersecurity responses to expedite threat detection and ensure swift and efficient risk mitigation. With the remote work trend continuing for the foreseeable future, fortifying cybersecurity measures is critical for businesses to safeguard their extended digital workspaces effectively. Remote work has illumined the cybersecurity shortcomings of many enterprises, putting both remote workers and essential IT infrastructure at risk. This research reveals critical vulnerabilities, with a substantial number of businesses lacking systematic approaches to monitoring or scanning remote devices, making them potential entry points for security breaches or malware.
The survey responses are from IDC's August 2023 Cybersecurity Capabilities Assessment Framework (CCAF) Survey. Data is from 258 CIOs, VPs of IT, directors of IT, or IT managers based in the United States or Canada who influence IT security decisions. Responses were tabulated and presented on the first slide, with additional commentary on the second slide.
