Abstract
This IDC Perspective discusses the need for CIOs to find and retain qualified IT professionals. CIOs are facing increasing demand for IT staff required to deliver digital transformation projects. Declining numbers of college graduates will make this challenge more difficult.
"CIOs must help current IT staff to become more efficient with ongoing work from anywhere and the use of AI to create a codeless environment," says Dr. Ron Babin, adjunct research advisor, IT Executive Programs (IEP) at IDC. "Innovative approaches will be needed to continually replenish and expand the in-house IT capability. CIOs must work closely with local colleges and should partner with clients and other organizations to create a reliable pipeline of IT staff."
