This IDC Perspective provides IT sourcing and procurement guidance for CIOs who are under pressure to deliver value in challenging macroeconomic times.
According to Dr. Ron Babin, adjunct researcher, IDC, "Unpredictable economic times present both a challenge and an opportunity to CIOs. Trends in the global economy, such as rising interest rates and significant layoffs at technology firms, provide an opening for CIOs to explore revisions to IT provider contracts. Indeed, many IT providers may have taken steps to include new provisions, such as Consumer Price Index (CPI) price indexing, in contracts. CIOs must challenge IT sourcing and procurement and IT providers to find new value in the near term while staying the course with IT investments for the long term. With anticipated disruptions from AI, the opportunity for the CIO to deliver value has never been greater despite these troubled economic times."
