Abstract

This IDC Perspective, part of a five-document series on capabilities for future IT, explores the essential IT products and services capabilities that make up embedded trust. This document lays out the capability development road map for building critical embedded trust skills at all levels of the organization — leadership, management, and staff — in terms of what needs to be done now, in the near term, and to build momentum in the future. This road map enables IT leaders to build effective and resilient embedded trust within the IT organization.

"Increasingly complex integrations and data empowerment are making IT leadership accountable for the organization's trust environment, regardless of the governance and oversight constructs in place. Capabilities need to enable delivery of trust-based commerce and a trusted ecosystem, and the highest integrity way to do that is to focus on embedded trust," says Alizabeth Calder, adjunct analyst with IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "IT can play a defining role in the future of trust by enabling the architecture and tools that make up for the fact that no team can possibly keep up with what the environment needs."
