Abstract

This IDC Survey presents findings from IDC's European Data, Analytics, AI, and Automation Survey from January 2023. It focuses on how individual aspects of data and analytics technology usage and practice create business success. In particular, it examines the correlation between:

  • The use of data for decision making and business success
  • Individual practices relating to data and analytics use as well as business success
  • Tool usage and business success

Modern enterprises aspire to become more data-driven. Data-drivenness leads to more enterprise intelligence, thus becoming more reliable than classical experience-based decisions. However, it is important to identify which approach creates actual business results and which actions toward enhanced data-drivenness are more effective in value generation.

"Being analytics-driven is no longer just a nice-to-have. In particular, being predictive-analytics-driven creates a lot more business value than just following your gut when making decisions," said Giovanni Cervellati, research manager, IDC.
