This IDC Market Perspective analyzes the emerging market for skills-related software within skills assessment and skills matching. Skills shortages within IT and technology are being felt across Europe and are a significant cause for project delays, loss of revenue, missed cost-saving opportunities, and loss of market opportunities. In areas where demand is soaring, processes, solutions and software typically emerge.
"IDC expects the market for skills-related software to grow significantly in the next five years. However, software providers have so far hesitated, as the lack of clear definitions and taxonomies have largely made the processes manual and organization specific rather than generic and ready for automation. New initiatives and solutions are emerging, and IDC will continue to analyze this market in a series of reports," said Martin Sundblad, research manager and European Skills Practice lead at IDC.
