Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights how data sovereignty and compliance requirements can shape the geography of workload deployments. The enactment of new regulations on the federal and provincial levels creates a greater need for companies to consider data sovereignty and regulatory and industry compliance requirements in choosing where to deploy specific applications and data workloads. In this August 2022 ITAP n5 Survey, we asked 427 Canadian IT decision makers about the factors that affect their choice of location for deploying specific applications and data workloads. Data sovereignty and regulatory and industry compliance requirements are important factors for all Canadian companies; however, there are some significant differences when split by province, size, and industry segments.
