Abstract
This IDC Vendor Profile is a deep dive into AWS and its strategies and technologies related to sustainability. It is a snapshot of AWS' sustainability maturity now and studies how AWS leverages its role as a cloud provider to meet its own ESG commitments; enable its customers in Asia/Pacific to meet their own ESG goals; and influence its ecosystem to start and track progress in ESG. Ultimately, the study of AWS' sustainability through the lens of IDC Sustainability Technology Value Framework is meant to present best practices and learnings on how the actions and decisions of one company can accelerate progress, amplify efforts, and lead to measurable outcomes in the global agenda to reduce carbon emissions and fulfill declared commitments on environmental and social indicators that underpin the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
